ABOUT
“one of the most influential Gospel families in Memphis,TN”
Credited as “one of the most influential Gospel families in Memphis, TN” with more than 30 years in the music industry. Deborah Barnes, niece of Reverend F.C. Barnes, and daughter of Reverend James L. Gleese, founder of the Beale Street Mission, was just as musically inclined as her relatives and became a Raelette for the genius of soul, Ray Charles. Deborah carried on the musical torch and instilled the importance of creativity and music in her children who grew to become notable musicians.
In 2015 Deborah Barnes and her family released an album titled Family Tree and in 2019 Debroah’s sons Chris and Courtney, the Sensational Barnes Brothers released their critically acclaimed debut gospel album Nobody’s Fault But My Own. Then the following year, in 2020, her eldest son and Calvin J. Barnes II and daughter Carla Barnes-Anderson released James Anderson, an album with more R&B influences centered around inspiration and motivation.
The Barnes family has always had deep ties to gospel, often bridging the gap between soul and non-secular music. However this time around they are ready to craft music that shows a progression of not only their talents and their life experiences.
